From June 5–7, heart health organizations, CPR advocates, and SCA survivors from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C., to mark National CPR-AED Awareness Week. The weekend was coordinated by Every Second Counts CPR and focused on education, remembrance, and advocacy.
At the National Mall, 5,000 red flags honored those affected by Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). AEDs were distributed throughout the D.C. area, and heart screenings were offered for youth ages 11–22.
On June 6, organizations united at the Washington Monument for the Turning of the Tide project, followed by a march to the White House and remarks from Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick at the Capitol. The day concluded with a Heart Advocate Dinner recognizing leaders in the field.
The event culminated in a full day of CPR training at the Washington Monument on June 7, including a world record attempt for the longest continuous CPR relay. The day blended hands-on education with family-friendly activities and live music.
We were honored to stand alongside fellow organizations committed to saving lives, strengthening communities, and raising national awareness of SCA prevention.
